So…I’ve finally decided to sign up for Korean classes at a local language school here in Vancouver.  I gotta say, it’s so much fun that even though my thursdays end up being 12 hour days including work and class, I don’t actually mind (that’s saying a lot from someone who totally hates mornings with a passion).

So far, it’s still quite beginner, introductions and such…stuff that I already sort of know.  But it’s getting tougher now and I’m really excited.  My Korean friends and coworkers often point out certain words and phrases for me…now I just have to learn in class how to link all those phrases together to make a meaningful conversation. 😛 keke I have found many similarities with Chinese (well…duh…considering…lol) so it’s been ok remembering words and sentence structures.  Soon (hopefully)..I’ll actually understand all the songs I’ve memorized! Or watch a show without having to read the subs! (wishful thinking, I know….ha >_< )

Pororo is also a great help if you’re learning Korean. Seriously, cutest cartoon…. and it’s for kids…so you learn certain phrases in each episode (and how to write them!).  I spent all 10 hours of flight to Korea watching Pororo and his friends lol.

I have 2 more classes in my introduction-introduction course…before moving on to the beginner-introduction (they’re not actually called that … just…that’s what it is haha).  Hopefully in the next 2 weeks, I can figure out how not to write like a 5 year old. Not sure if even Pororo can help with that one. 😀

When I go back to Korea next year (fingers and toes crossed)… I vow to at least be able to ask for directions and order my food 😛 Must…work…to…fit…in…with…my…name! (My Korean friends gave me a Korean name…lol 저는 박준희 에요…반갑숩니다~….did I write it right?)

never gone…never far…

went to the NKOTBSB concert part I in vancouver, and for 3 hours, i was 13 again. ❤

also had my very late birthday dinner with the mexican crew. oh riviera maya, how i miss you so.

cleaning room after one month of living out of a suitcase. i don’t know what to do with all this space.

and finally, dusting off my notebook and begin writing again.

what do i write? non-sense. daydreams onto paper.

but still. it’s a great way to escape reality, isn’t it?

Going Home. Part One.

Every year, I return to HK because my gramma is there.  Every year, I pack and sort of wish I didn’t have to spend all my vacation time there.  Then I look at my room and miss it a little.

Then every year I get off the plane and load myself onto a bus and think “Welcome home, Echo.” and my heart swells just a little bit when I walk through the street and buzz myself into the apartment.

This time is no different.

Except part of my heart is in Vancouver right now, so I really wish I could stay.  Always with you babygirl, no matter where I am and how pathetic our timing is.

Updates from across the ocean?

p.s. you won’t realise how much i really needed that hug tonight.  thank you.

it’s a world of laughter, a world or tears
its a world of hopes, its a world of fear
theres so much that we share
that its time we’re aware
its a small world after all

There is just one moon and one golden sun
And a smile means friendship to everyone.
Though the mountains divide
And the oceans are wide
It’s a small small world

Welcome home Nazzy.

always in my heartStopping the West Coast Express wasn’t an option, slowing it down barely was, and if regrettable circumstances hadn’t gotten in the way of its production and chemistry, 2002-03 would have just been the tip of the iceberg

Lots of people have scolded me over the past two years because I completely stopped watching Canucks hockey since my beloved team fell apart.  That team…the West Coast Express era…were the past, and our team now is great.

WCE is the past, Echo. You gotta let it go.  You can’t just give up on the game you love to watch.  You’re the only one who’s never fallen off the wagon.

Well, I’ve never been on a wagon…I’ve watched them since day one in Canada…I watched them as I learned English at the Pacific Coliseum. I watched with so my anticipation, excitement, and eventually in tears as their 93 Stanley Cup run ended in disappointment.  I watched through the Keanan reign of terror…with a broken heart as they traded our Linden.  I watched as slowly, they rebuilt it into the first class Canucks team that was led by Nazzy.

I watched the Sedins grow from silly bunnies to a formidible second line…to being our 2 for 1 captain.
I watched Matt Cooke score…two veryvery fantastic goals…2 seconds to go, how do you beat that? with a 1.2 second goal.  I watched as I choked on the apple I was eating, tripping over my blanket, and received txt after txt after call from my friends congratulating my boy.
I watched the West Coast Express soar.  Shorty said to hang on tight, because it’s going to be a heck of a ride.  It was one freakin ride. Bert, Nazzy, and the always under-appreciated Mo.  Jovo, Ohlie, Malik, Salo…Cookie…Cass…
I watched as year after year, Clouts ruined Nazzy.

I watched as Vancouver fell off the bandwagon one by one…as Bert defended our captain.  As we sent them both off…without a big hug and eternal thanks.

His greatest fault in Vancouver was only that he got older as a player. Ours is that we didn’t let him. Tonight makes everything better. – The Vancouver Sun.

When you recognize 20+ guys by their stride…by their eyes…it was no longer just a hockey team. Those were memories, that was pride.  It was family.

It’s difficult to say good bye to family.

Tonight wasn’t goodbye.  It was a reunion. It was to welcome our Naslund home, because we didn’t give him the proper send off the first time around. (Nor did we recognize the efforts of Morrison…but that’s another story)

Welcome home, Nazzy.  I’ll always miss you.

This Adventure goes BOOTBOOT

On April 18th, 2010….I got my first car! 😀 I cannot believe it.  I am not a proud leaser of a Mercedes B-Class. In mountain grey…grey interior…and it goes VROOM.

I love it. It’s such a smooth ride.  Except the heater was wonky this morning. We’ll have to see for tmr.

I’m so tired.  I need to do my taxes.  I need to finish my dad’s catalogue.  I need to revise my resume.  I need to do a shitload of fundraiser stuff for work.  I need to figure out when Rob is coming back to Vancouver!!!
